JJ Abrams to Direct the Next Star Wars
A new Star Wars movie (Episode VII) is to be produced now that Disney has ownership of the franchise.
J.J. Abrams will direct Star Wars: Episode VII, the first of a new series of Star Wars films to come from Lucasfilm under the leadership of Kathleen Kennedy.
I loved the reimagined Star Trek and am looking forward to Star Trek into Darkness with much anticipation. I reckon that JJ Abrams and his team have done wonders with that franchise. But I have initial doubts as to how his dark style and his Steve Jobs-esque ability to cast off the legacy of previous generations of the brand/franchise “product” will go down with Star Wars. OTOH, I can’t imagine there would be any chance of a Jar Jar Binks type of character in anything that Abrams would lend his name to! (via Daring Fireball
